Mo-mo-mori!!!

After lots of lolita fashion shenanigans I really wanted to concentrate on mori kei for a while! Putting this look together was so much fun!

Perfect for attending July's lolita fashion meetup with my friends (we have no strict dress code and other fashions & normie clothes are fine.)

Outfit rundown (from top to bottom):

hair flower: handmade (and lost on the walk home that day..)

shell earrings: handmade from shells

shell necklace: handmade

lacey crop top: handmade

big shell sash: thrifted

gilet with pointy bits / tails: handmade (you can only see the bottom part in my outfit, because I'm wearing the crop top layered over it)

bracelet: from an animal charity, handmade by them

crocheted skirt: handmade / upcycled from a table cloth my great aunt crocheted during WW II

underskirt: handmade

Autumn in summer, and summer in autumn.

These pictures were taken on a cool (18°C) July day, when the only things reminding us of summer were the sunlight, the sky colour and the flowers. That day, I felt like dressing in autumn colours. Today, it's October 4th, but the temperature has reached 29°C, which is quite abnormal in Québec. Is it a bit concerning? Definitely. I guess it's once again my cue to encourage you to thrift durable things instead of buying new, at least, when you can. And durable means you can keep your loved things for a long time! I know we all have a big footprint on our poor planet, but we might as well try our best to reduce it in ways we can for the short time we are here.

Memento Mori [メメント•モリ] beach day

I found mori kei pants!! Yes!!

They were on sale because the store location closes down. They're perfect for summer and very comfy! (I have to do a slight fit alteration but they're also fine as is.)

Check out the cute pattern on them (first detail picture). Aren't the little leaves adorable?

The golden short-sleeved crochet cardigan is thrifted and the blouse handmade (by me!). The lace headband is also handmade (by a friend). This is very casual mori but summer is just not suitable to the usual layers of mori kei.

Sorry for the silence ! I haven't had much time to post here, I've started a summer job in cornfields that has been taking a lot of energy from me.

Here is a photo we took to celebrate Kupala, the ancient ukrainian celebration. It is celebrated on the 6th and 7th of July but staring next year they will celebrate it on the 24th of June. Closer to the original date their ancestors would celebrate it.

FYI kupala was forbidden during the soviet occupation, hence the different dates of celebrations. It is originally a pagan celebration, with many different beliefs. Kupala isn't only celebrated in Ukraine, but also in other slavic countries.
